CMA art students at Ars Electronica Campus Exhibition

2026 Ars Electronica Campus Exhibition, Linz Austria

In September, CMA will again exhibit at the Ars Electronica Campus Exhibition in Linz, Austria. Six CMA PhD candidates and Assistant Professor Nicolò Merendino will present their ongoing artistic research. Participating practitioners: Zoe Qijing Li, Jue Wang, Tiancheng Liu & Nicolò Merendino, Hao Li, Yufan Li & Qing Yang, and Xinyu Ma.

The Ars Electronica Festival is an internationally renowned media arts platform, established in 1979 to facilitate dialogue between art, technology and society.

The exhibition Reality Flux: Sensing the Unseen showcases artworks by six CMA practitioners in Linz, marking the third consecutive year of CMA’s participation. The exhibition conceptualises the invisible not as something hidden, but structurally inaccessible. It invites audiences to enter emergent modes of existence defined by persistent uncertainty, shaped by ecological pressure, shifting embodied conditions and technological governance. In such contexts, the invisible can only be partially apprehended through interaction, translation and entanglement. As technological systems continuously reconfigure boundaries between the virtual and physical, works within Reality Flux refuse representation as a final destination. Instead, they occupy dynamic territories of distributed agency, where authority shifts across human bodies and machines. Artistic authorship becomes an emergent process. Interactive installations, embodied media and algorithmic works render the invisible through continuous acts of sensing. Every project operates as an open assemblage: a field of potentials that resists closure.

The curatorial team mentoring participants for the 2026 Ars Electronica Campus Exhibition consists of three CMA faculty members: Clea von Chamier-Waite (Lead Curator), Ingeborg Reichle, and James She (curator for 2025).
