Hausen Haoxuan WANG

PhD Student (First Year), Computational Media and Arts

Haoxuan Wang is a PhD student in the Computational Media and Arts Thrust at the Information Hub. He is an interdisciplinary designer whose research explores how datasets, computational systems, and emerging screen media can be transformed into poetic, embodied, and expanded forms of cinematic experience. Drawing on data art practice, digital humanities, and ArtTech, his work investigates the creative tension between data and computational creativity, as well as the evolving language of communication design through immersive interfaces, machine-assisted media, and embodied narrative experiences.

Research Interests: Expanded Cinema, Data Poetics, Digital Humanities

Overlapping Twin Shadows

Overlapping Twin Shadows

2025 | Five Channel Video Art

Overlapping Twin Shadows is a five-channel video installation that transforms everyday landscapes into an evolving audiovisual collage. Blending time-lapse, macro, infrared, and AI-generated imagery derived from live footage, the work contrasts natural scenes with their algorithmic “doubles.” Within a fixed multi-screen structure, drifting image loops blur documentation and illusion, inviting viewers to explore the fragile boundaries of memory, perception, and reality.

Breath of the Gulf Stream

Breath of the Gulf Stream

2025 | Architectural Projection Mapping

“Breath of the Gulf Stream” imagines Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area as a ceaseless current of returning energy—an urban life‑form woven from matter, data, and artificial intelligence. Here, the “gulf stream” refers not only to the visible water and sea breeze, but also to the invisible tides of capital, information, algorithms, and people flowing through the city. Through AI‑driven generation and recomposition of images and rhythms, the work allows a soft, biomimetic skin of light to emerge along the inner walls of an old industrial silo, quietly revealing the hidden modes of urban growth unique to the Greater Bay Area.

SOMA

SOMA

2025 | AI Interactive Installation Art

SOMA is an interactive installation that reinterprets traditional Chinese calligraphy and landscapes through generative AI and embodied interaction. Named after the Greek word for "body," it uses VAEs and LLMs to translate human gestures and voice into fluid brushstrokes and evolving scenery. By blurring the boundaries between physical presence and digital generation, SOMA reimagines cultural heritage not as a static legacy, but as a living, fluid process shaped by the dynamic interplay of body, technology, and memory.
